Steps to getting your license:

Choose a class date and click the link to enroll in class

Enrollment is quick and easy. Just fill out the registration page, make a registration appointment, and make a payment.

Attend a pre-class appointment to complete paperwork.

Appointments take 20-30 minutes and the student and a parent (if the student is under 18) should attend.

Attend class and take your written test.

Class is 8 hours on your class date and lunch is provided. In person students will take the written test at the end of class. If you're taking class online, you'll make an appointment to take your test. When you pass your written test, you'll receive a temporary permit.

Students under 17 without a learner's permit should go to the DMV after class.

Students under 17 are required to hold a learner's permit for 12 months or until they turn 17, whichever comes first. The Kansas Instructional Permit requires a written test only, so go ahead and get that as soon as possible after class by taking your temporary permit to the DMV. You can see a list of what to bring to the DMV and the Kansas licensing process on our Driver's Education Process page.

Drive for 6 hours with your driving instructor.

We come to you! Our individual driving instruction will pick you up for each appointment and teach you all of the essentials to make sure you're confident behind the wheel. The instructor will also be grading your skills demonstration for your driving test. As long as you pass, you'll receive a certificate of completion.

Students who are eligible for their restricted or unrestricted licenses are ready for the DMV.

Students under 17 who have held their learner's permit for 12 months or more are now eligible for their restricted license. Students who are 17 or older are eligible for their unrestricted license even if they have never held a learner's permit. You can see the full licensing process for Kansas on our Driver's Education Process page.
